Titisee conferences

Intensive scientific exchange and in-depth discussion among leading researchers from different subdisciplines in a welcoming atmosphere: These are the hallmarks of the International Titisee Conferences (ITCs), which have been held at Lake Titisee in the Black Forest region of Germany since 1962. Their topics cover the entire spectrum of basic research in biomedicine.

The Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds (BIF) sets the overarching theme and invites internationally renowned scientists to chair an ITC, define their topic and invite participants. Organization and funding are taken care of by the BIF.

Suggestions for topics welcome!

To spark ideas...

The aim of the ITCs is to encourage scientific exchange between subdisciplines to spark new ideas and concepts and initiate new collaborations.

A reputation of excellence since 1962

"My measure of what makes a terrific meeting is, paradoxically, how much I want to leave the meeting to get back to my lab so I can work on the ideas that have come up in the discussion. The Titisee meeting made me very eager to return to the lab."

Martin Chalfie, recipient of the 2008 Nobel Prize in Chemistry
