103rd ITC Genetic analysis of neural circuits
The investigation of brain functions is currently being transformed through the application of genetic methods in model organisms such as worms, flies, fish and mice. Genetic tools are increasingly being used to define individual neuronal cell types and trace out their connections in neural circuits, and to monitor and manipulate the activity of specific neurons in freely behaving animals. Exciting new technologies are constantly being developed and refined in this fast-moving field.
The aim of this meeting will be to bring together the leading researchers involved in the development and application of these methods, in order to highlight emerging techniques and address existing limitations and challenges, and to foster a fertilization of ideas and approaches across the various model organisms and neural systems. While the emphasis will be on the technologies themselves, the meeting should also highlight how these methods are being applied to yield powerful new insights into the organisation and function of specific neural circuits.
