Board of Trustees | | | |
The Board of TrusteesThe Board of Trustees includes six internationally renowned scientists, the Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of Boehringer Ingelheim and, as a permanent guest, a representative of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation). The trustees work in an honorary capacity and decide on all matters of general importance. Their most important function, however, is to act as an independent committee of experts that scrutinizes the applications for PhD and MD fellowships and that reviews the proposals for International Titisee Conferences. From the very beginning, the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds succeeded in appointing as trustees personalities from universities and other basic research institutes, who were not only distinguished scientists, but who also enjoyed the confidence of their fellow researchers. Their high demands on quality and their stringent selection criteria have gained the Foundation recognition by the scientific community. The trustees are appointed by the founders for a tenure of three years; renewal is possible. Members of the Board of Trustees
